Few decisions have more of an impact on the final outcome of your wedding day as choosing your DJ. What questions should you be asking when deciding who’s the right DJ for you?
Not every DJ will be the right fit for you, but there are some things that you want to keep in mind, no matter what your music style. Here are some questions to ask.
Ask yourself: When you inquire, ASK YOURSELF, how are they showing that they pay attention to details? How long did they take to respond back to you? Are they thorough and professional during the interview process? Do you feel like you can trust them?
Ask them: Then ASK THEM, do they have a DJ/MC combo, if that’s important to you? If it’s a multi-op, make sure you ask, who will be your DJ? What backups of their equipment do they bring to your wedding?
Ask others: Lastly, LOOK TO OTHERS in the industry (or who have attended weddings they’ve DJ’d) for their opinions. Ask your photographer, your planner or venue coordinator, what’s this DJ’s reputation? Are they nice people? Do they have a weird “DJ voice” on the mic?
You have a lot of really great DJs to choose from in the Hudson Valley; narrowing it down is not an easy task. Think about what’s really important to you, and never base your decision on price alone. If live music is important to you, does your DJ offer a live element, too. How about a DJ/Band combo?
